Guiding Light

A Christmas Eve
darker than most.
Through tears I told
of your passing
Knowing that it
cannot be real.
Knowing you are
still here with me.
Never leaving
my heart and soul.
I hear your voice
with each heartbeat.
I see your face
each time I blink.
I hear your laugh
with each wind gust.

Though the night was
darker than most
the night sky now
has a new star
to help guide me.

This is a poem dedicated to my grandma who passed away December 24th. May she always be in our hearts.

Cold Winter Night

His feet stamp through the fresh white snow
giving me an easy path to stalk and follow.

The Chicago streets are empty: except for he and I.

Gas lamp after gas lamp fades as I slowly creep bye.

I know he is there;
he doesn’t know I’m here.

Catching him from behind, with a brick, I land a solid blow
and stand smiling, gleefully watch his final breath flow.

Red oozes warming and painting the powder covered street.

Omnipresent

A dove flies to the heavens

An angel is born,
flying high as a dove;
watching over the ones they love.
Nothing can replace what is lost.
Nothing can replace who you are,
the way you changed
everyone you touched,
everyday you met.

A dove flies past the heavens,
yet will never leave.
