Untitled 5/8/2017

A Mirror hung on a gold gilded wall;
a reflection of a different future
where family portraits line a  hall.
A future where snow gently falls
untouched by man, woman, or animal.
A field tucked in for the night beneath the powder
dotted with oranged oaks.
A reflection of your beauty:

timeless.

A reflection where blue eyes show pain
beyond a perfect field:

a pain that the reflection is a falsehood.

Halls dotted with empty frames
where Intricate cobwebs live;
as the gold vanishes to dust
swept in the cold winter wind
amongst the dying trees.

The mirror cracks;
shattering to the floor
of a gutted home

A future abandoned.

Haiku Volume 15

Good day everyone out there, I am here with some new Haiku for this holiday week. Christmas is coming so for those who celebrate Merry Christmas, I can't wake to drink heavily and hopefully watch the Knicks win!

For those who celebrate Chanukah, which begins Saturday, I say to you Happy Chanukah. To those who celebrate Kwanza. starting next Monday . . . well I mean I doubt anyone reading this celebrates Kwanza since a very small amount of the populous does, but whatever: Joyous Kwanza to you: though I got to say the core principles of Kwanza should hold true for everyone; they are perfect ways to build a better you and a better community, but I'm off it. For those who don't celebrate anything, sup.

Now I wrote some Ku's here some holiday themed and some my normal depressing shit, with the final one dedicated to my late grandmother. Some of you know you she passed Christmas Eve of last year, for those of you who didn't, well, now you do. So I just want to take a moment to say that I miss you grandma and I will drink a Manhattan sometime soon in your honor and will wear a Red Sox hat on Christmas Eve for you. We all love and miss you.

Now, who wants to read some Haiku? I'm assuming you since you clicked on this link and are reading this long drawn out introduction.

I

Pure white softly falls
covering flashing colors
light muted in night.

II

Fat home invader
watches children while they sleep,
but they still love him.

III

Blistering cold wind
freezes my tears like your heart
as I watch you leave.

IV

Cold brown corneas
cutting like a knife through me
ceasing my heart beat

V

A flock of black birds
fly over— blotting the sun;
darkening below.

VI

The puppy attacks
chomping down on ornaments.
Oops, there goes the tree!

VII

Candles burn brightly
bringing a new flame nightly
brought by the shamash.

VIII

A year since you left;
yet you remain with us all
this Christmas season.

Haiku Volume 14

Good Evening all, I hope I find you in a mood. As from my previous posts through November I was participating in NaNoWriMo with the goal of writing a rough draft of a novel within a month. . . I failed miserably; alas that does not mean I finish the novel, it just means I won't as soon as I had hoped. But, since November is over, I will post new shit here and that will begin with a fresh batch of Haiku!

I

Moments between us
run congruent with those I
dream to have with you.

II

Dark times abound us:
we must hold out in hopes the
light is soon to come.

III

Born with a heart, but
lost it on the road. Only
you can return it.

IV

Crying out at night
looking for life in the dark;
no one hears my calls.

V

Trapped inside my mind
is an untold story that's
waiting to be born.

VI

Bourbon in your glass
with the sweet taste on your breath
as our tongues dance.

VII

You and I in bed―
your soft black hair on my chest:
nerves keep it a dream.

VIII
Soft white piled high
to the bright gray skies above.

Kids play and cars slide.

Love Reconciled

I said in my last post I am currently struggling to focus on a novel for NaNoWriMo 2016 (I'm failing) and while I work on that I would be posting things I posted on Reddit's writing prompt subreddit. The prompt for the following story was 'You are about to commit suicide when a note falls from the sky.' Enjoy.

I stand in an open field in a foot of snow under a grey sky; I need to get to the tree where I first met her. I could see the tree in the distance waving at me, its icy fingers begging me to continue: I take a deep breath. I was starting to sweat so I strip off my heavy North Face jacket and toss it into the field to be found during the spring thaw. The cool air felt good against my arms now exposed in the short sleeve shirt. She bought it for me on our first anniversary. It has our wedding picture on the front with the date of the ceremony and our initials.
I miss her.
I touch her screen printed face and make my way through the heavy powder to the weeping willow waving at me in the wind.
I lean myself against the heavy trunk to catch my breath. I finally begin breathing regularly again and I scan the trunk for our names that we carved in it when we first met. They were wrapped in a heart with the date of our first encounter here. I pull a knife from my pocket and carve today’s date officially ending our love in this world.
I still love her.
I pull the hand gun from my pocket, cock it and put it to my temple. I feel warm tears running down my cheek, my finger shakes as I slide it over the trigger.
Maybe I shouldn’t do this. I pull the gun from my head and drop to my knees. I am kneeling in the snow weeping when the sky clears and a white paper falls from the sky. I unfold it; it’s a hand written note
James,
You are almost there. Pull the trigger and we will be together again.
It is her hand writing: a message from heaven. I put the gun to my head again.
“I’m coming my love”
My finger pulls the trigger all the way.

Haiku Volume 11

Good morning folk, or good afternoon I guess that would depend on when you are reading this. Well Happy day to you whatever time it is  I hope it will/has been a great one for you. I know as I type this I have a wonderful day of working looming over me like Donald Trumps giant wall. Its a big wall, a wall so big, he knows walls OK. No one knows walls like the Donald, and who is going to pay for that wall??? No one, because it is a fucking ludicrous idea that makes zero sense especially when we as a nation of a debt in the fucking Trillions. This whole election, from both sides, is the most ridiculous thing I have ever witnessed, but this is for a day closer to election day.

Anyway moving on.

I also want to take a moment here to congratulate one of my best friends Christina on her engagement! I am super excited and happy for you. I cannot wait to celebrate your engagement by getting white girl wasted, which is what I plan on doing at your wedding, though with far more dancing! I would post a picture of us, but if I posted one without her approval she would stab me in the eye socket especially because she would hate the chose so instead here is a GIF of how excited I am:
Now while I finish part 4 of A Western End (it is in the editing stage now), start another edition of my movies post, and create a new series about Hip Hop lyricists, I bring to you another volume of Haiku (I am compiling these and other Haiku together to create a book called Hey Look Its Haiku and Some Essays About Life, by Dan Perrucci! (Yeah the title is a haiku and yeah I am awesome. Thanks for thinking so as well!)
I
Steel flies through the cold:
a country torn apart by
a forgotten war.

II
Explosions downtown,
but the world doesn't care when
the victims are brown.

III
Innocent police
killed in the line of duty
Human lives matter.

IV
Police gunfire bangs
innocent citizens killed:
Human lives matter.

V
Flowers start to bloom
shedding winter from their soul.
Sprung from death to life.

VI
The lights slowly dim
until darkness: my thoughts creep
leaving me restless.

VII
Red beating muscle
pumping life;slowly breaking
now unmendable.

VIII
Wind gushes through trees
swaying the branches gently
as green buds awake.

IX
My alarm clock blares
as the morning sun creeps in
I refuse to wake.

X
The sun's still asleep
as a loud meow echos:

“Feed me NOW human!”

A Western End

part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5

PART 1

The sky glows orange as the sun rises over the barren plains to the east. The earth below is covered in a slight frost— a sign of the fast approaching winter: a sign that Marshal Harold Cummings only had a few weeks to locate a savage murderer before the snow slims his chances. The Marshal awakes and rises to his feet stretching his arms high above his head. Marshal Harold is well over six feet, but in his old age, his back began to slouch giving him the appearance of being shorter. His beard is gray yet his hair is still the dark brown from his youth, but starting to sprinkle with age. He dressed in a burgundy bib shirt, tan deerskin gloves, matching canvas pants tucked neatly into his black cowboy boots. He adjusts his knee length black duster, and grabs his matching slouch hat off the ground and puts it on his head. He grabs his holster wrapping it around his waist. Marshal Cummings removes the Colt Peacemaker from the holster and inspects it before he sliding it back into place.
He stands in place staring out at the snow capped mountains in the west as the warm fall sun shines on his back. He is headed toward a small cabin located on an abandoned ranch: a place known as a hideout for wanted fugitives. The old marshal knows it well. He had captured many men there and killed even more, but that was when he was young before he hands shook, before his fingers pained him to bend. It was when he could draw quicker than any man north of the Rio Grande.  It was before he had a family to get back to.

It would be dangerous to head to the ranch alone, but he had gone too far to turn back and round a posse.Even if he did who in town can he even trust anymore? Besides the bitter cold and snow was coming making time of the essence and it was about time he ended the chase for the fugitive who had eluded him for the last ten years.

His horse gallops over the frozen ground. His mind wandering to his past. A time when he was young when he first arrived as the new marshal in the small dust bowl town of Red Creek.
It was a Monday in 1864. The day was hot even for mid-July. The sun hung lazily over the main street of the town as he rode his horse down the dirt road. The streets were empty. He wore the same knee-length duster her wears today. His eyes were bright, his smile was electric, and his muscles nearly burst through his gray bib shirt. He hoped his takeover from the old marshal would go smoothly, but he knew it wouldn’t. He was ambitious, but he also was looking to escape past struggles.
He hitched his horse in front of the Marshal’s building. He grabbed a packet of papers from his satchel and headed into the building. It was much larger than how it appeared from the outside. Three large cells lined the back and three desks dotted the room. Only one had any signs of being occupied, but no one sat there. The desk was covered in wanted posters waiting to be hung up on the board outside and half empty bottle of dark liquor accompanied by two empty bottles.
The cages in the back were vacant. His chair creaked as he moved impatiently waiting to meet the current marshal. A clock ticked away on a far wall echoing into his head. Harold stood up and decided to explore his new home. The streets were silent like a Sunday morning. Something was amiss. He walked across the street to the saloon.
The doors swung open and the place was almost as empty as the streets. Just the bartender stood behind the bar blankly staring at the new comer.
“Can I’s help ya?” The bartender spoke in a rough voice as a bit of tobacco chew dripped from the corner of his mouth lodging in his auburn beard.
Harold didn’t speak he just approached the bar and took a seat on one of the stools. The bartender continued his cold stare as Harold removed his hat and brushed his hand through his thick brown hair.
“You’s got to order or leave.” He spits toward the floor.
“Whisky.”
The bartender drug his one foot along the ground behind him as he struggled to the other side of the bar to fetch a bottle. He brought back a brown bottle and a glass. He wiped out the glass with his apron and filled it with what smelt like whiskey. Marshal Cummings stared at the glass.
“Is there anythin’ else I cans do for ya city?”
“I’m looking for Marshal Jenkins,” Harold said without taking his eye off the filthy glass in front of him.
The bartender stared at the marshal without saying a word instead he spit another wad of chew into the spittoon behind the bar.
“He Ain’t here, you mays want to check up yer ass.”
Marshal Cummings stood up smiling at the man “I'll be sure to take that advice.”
He put his hat back on his head, dropped a coin on the bar, and started out of that saloon. He paused at the doorway, “when he is done banging your whores let him know the new marshal is looking for him.” Harold pushed the saloon doors open and stepped out into the street. He could hear footsteps inside the saloon heading up the creaky staircase.
Harold stood in the middle of the dusty street. He watched as a woman peered out a window above the saloon. Marshal Cummings pulled out his silver pocket watch the big hand swung past the one as a man stepped out of the saloon.
“Marshal Jenkins I presume?”
“Who’s askin’?”
Marshal Jenkins was a short fat man. His red hair was slipping out from under his black gambler hat. his dark red mustache was waxed to point out from either side of his round face. His black rifle frock coat was covered in the red dust that gave Red Creek its name.
“Name is Marshal Harold Cummings.”
Jenkins pushed his coat slightly from his hip to reveal his revolver. He hovered his hand above it ready to put it to use. “And what is it I cans do for ya Cummings?”
The streets began to fill with curious citizens.
“I have a warrant signed by the honorable Judge Archie Lucas for your removal from your post as Marshal and for your arrest on several charges, so you can take your hand from your gun and come one with me to one of those vacant cells over there.”
“I’m the law ‘round here, so I suggest you get the fuck out a here!”
“According to the fine Judge and the governor of this fair territory, I am now the law around here.”
“So whats ya aim to arrest me?”
“And have you hung, yes that is my intention.”
“By Gum! Ya gonna have me hanged? I say I rather be left here in the street as buzzard food than go wit ya.”
Jenkins spit a large wad of tobacco into the street. He then reached for his gun, but before it was even out of the holster a shot went off echoing through the silent street. Marshal Jenkins fell to the ground. He screamed from the pain as blood poured out of his thigh.
“From reading the crimes you are being charged with I would love nothing more than to have you bleed to death here, but I promised the Judge you’d hang and that's what I intend to be your fate.
Marshal Cummings picked up Jenkins and drug him back to the marshal’s office and tossed him into one of the cold lonely cells.
That was long ago. His mind returns the present and to the cabin and the uncertain fate that awaits him.

Winter Dream

The wind blew rogue snow flakes into her hair as she stood staring at me. I wanted to brush them away. I wanted to bring her close and warm her lips with mine. I wanted to hold her while the stars glistened high above. I just stood with my hands in my sweatpants' pockets. She shifted her weight from leg to leg as the dim light from outside the bar shined around her head like a halo. She was my angel, but my nerves kept her an untouchable heavenly creature. I wished I could climb into her head and find out if she was thinking about me the way I thought of her. Silence floated around us like the smoke from our breath.

The bar door opened and laughter broke our quiet. Her head spun to watch the commotion. Her scent drifted to me. I took a deep breath and let her fill my imagination: our two bodies naked pressed against each other her voice in my ear telling me how it feels. Our skin sweating as we hold each other after my arms wrapped around her hips as I place a gentle kiss on her neck.

The loving couple jumped into their Audi and drove off snapping me back to my aching heart of reality. Their absence left me with the women of my dreams. She now faces me a smile on her face. I look toward the ground hoping somewhere in the snow I would find my balls. A few cigarette butts, some shoe prints, a fresh pile from a small dog, but not one set of testicles. I lifted my head and her smile was gone. We said our goodbyes and I watched her behind sway as she walked to her car.

I walked to mine replaying the night in my head. The moment in the bar where I clutched her leg, the moment she sipped my beer, and my following sip where I could taste her. The moment in the parking lot where I should have brought out the sun.

I watched her car as it left. It was gone and I dropped my head back into my leather seats. The car was freezing cold, but my mind drifted far beyond the physical realm of my reality and back to the world I could have. The world where the sun rise creeps into the open window and the crows squawk as she wakes up in my arms. A world where she glances up with a slight smile as I kiss her forehead and welcome her to the day. A world which we hide from together hiding in each other in the soft bed. A world of my dreams.

I started my car and pull out of the spot replaying my missed opportunity with the woman I want— the woman I need.

I cursed myself. The words fogged from my frustrated lips.

My car arrived without me remembering how I drove it. My thoughts raced like an Indy car driver spinning on the shores of Monaco. With a numb body I wandered through the dark finding my stiff lonely bed. My head hit the pillow drifting to the dreams of the reality I yearn to find.

Under the Willow

I stand waiting for you
under the old willow tree
as its leaves and flowers bloom.
Birds flock around singing their tune
as I stand waiting for you
under the old willow.

The sun shines down as the
blistering heat dries my tongue
and I can no longer sing your name
with the birds fluttering above
as I stand waiting for you
under the old willow.

The tree’s leaves yellow
as a cool wind blows
through its branches.
The dying leaves fall onto me
as I stand waiting for you
under the old willow.

The sky grays as a soft snow falls
and the birds cease singing
flying away until the flowers bloom
leaving me alone in the cold
as I stand waiting for you
under the old willow.

Knowing you will never come
I weep with the willow.

Cold Winter Night

His feet stamp through the fresh white snow
giving me an easy path to stalk and follow.

The Chicago streets are empty: except for he and I.

Gas lamp after gas lamp fades as I slowly creep bye.

I know he is there;
he doesn’t know I’m here.

Catching him from behind, with a brick, I land a solid blow
and stand smiling, gleefully watch his final breath flow.

Red oozes warming and painting the powder covered street.

Seasons

A cool breeze blows releasing
lovers from the summer weather
snapping the heartstring
that kept them together.

Leaves change from dark greens
to the stunning reds of fall.
Shorts change into jeans
and the days pass without a call.

The leaves spiral to their end
crunching under the feet of ghouls,
but a heart struggles to mend
stuck lounging by summer pools.

Grey clouds blanket hills white,
children await gifts under a great pine,
but a lover can’t close their eyes at night
thinking they will never again be fine.

White seeps into the earth
making way for green again,
as a lover seeks out a new birth.
Trying to find what the fall had slain

February 30th

My heartbeat and your name
were once the same,
now it’s just a thud like all the rest

Love once flowed in me,
Love for you and all you are;
Love for us.

Now loneliness takes love's place

My heart stands alone;
cold as the first snow hitting my cheek
frozen like a January lake,
to thaw again the thirtieth of February
